Ian Briggs vs. Comcast
"I would like them to cease their support of the American Legislative Executive Council (ALEC)"
-
Ian Briggs I have learned of your company's leadership in the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and the organization’s undue influence on state lawmaking. It is time you joined Pepsi, Coke and Kraft to publicly disclaim all association with ALEC.
Why is Comcast participating in an organization that has been instrumental in spreading “Stand Your Ground” gun laws of the type implicated in the Trayvon Martin shooting to dozens of states across the country? An organization whose agenda works to suppress voter turnout with draconian “Voter ID” laws, privatize our public schools, privatize Medicare and Social Security, hand out tax breaks for new tobacco products, promote concealed carry laws, support bills used to harass immigrants, and gut worker rights, minimum wage laws and even paid sick leave for American workers?
Why would Comcast want to cozy up behind closed doors with the Koch Brothers and Big Tobacco to financially underwrite an organization whose agenda is to rewrite state laws throughout the country in a venue where the American people have no vote and no voice?
This partnership you have with ALEC is unhealthy for our democracy and unhealthy for the consumers, such as myself, who purchase your products.
Please sever all ties with ALEC and stop underwriting their agenda. -
