PublikDemand vs. Bank of America

"Stop delaying and unreasonably denying loan modifications"

  • PublikDemand

Bank of America is delaying loan modifications in order to make money on struggling homeowners. On top of this, the bank is also denying loan modifications after they’ve already been approved.

De Veau Dunn filed for a mortgage modification with Bank of America and was asked to send in all of the required documents—tax returns, pay stubs, etc. After doing so, the bank asked him to send them all in again, only in a different order.

Once he did, Bank of America requested the documents yet again, but this time the bank wanted his death certificate. Dunn clearly hadn’t died, so he called Bank of America and the bank assured him it was a mistake. Even after admitting fault, Bank of America again asked for his death certificate.

Michael Waters also had a nightmarish time trying to get his mortgage modified. After losing his job, Waters contacted Bank of America to see if there was anything he could do to lower his payments. The bank told him it could offer a three-month forbearance and Waters happily agreed.

All was well until Waters received a letter in the mail that said the forbearance was cancelled because he did not pay on the 11th day of the month. However, his payment history specifically said the payment was due on the 26th of the month.

These stories illustrate how Bank of America is deceiving those who simply want to modify a loan in order to make a dollar off of them. It’s greedy, it’s dirty, and it’s wrong. Sign this demand to tell Bank of America this is not acceptable.

    What we want

We want Bank of America to honor the loan modifications it’s already agreed to and stop giving customers the run around.
